Orthodontic appliances can be used to create space in the mouth and/or coordinate the upper and lower teeth or arches. When the top jaw is smaller than the lower jaw, a crossbite occurs. Appliances can be used to enable adult teeth to come into place, prevent cheek biting, or to improve the bite for chewing or speaking.
